Spoilt for choice at Rowan Hill
Rowan Hill, Mount Oval Village, Rochestown, Co Cork
Mount Oval Village, a vast mixed residential development set high on Cork City's Clarke's Hill in Rochestown, was started by O'Flynn Construction in the late 1990s.
All 810 homes at Mount Oval, which counts former Munster rugby star Frankie Sheahan amongst its residents, were due to be finished by 2008, but building on the final sections of the 110ac site was thwarted by the collapse of the property market.
After exiting Nama and battling for survival with US private equity house Blackstone, O'Flynn resumed building. The developer had mostly finished off a section of Mount Oval called Rowan Hill before the crash, but returned to fully complete it in early 2016.
This part of the site is laid out in a series of cul-de-sacs and contains a combination of apartments, duplexes, detached properties and townhouses. This means it has been appealing to a variety of purchasers, from first-time buyers to investors and downsizers.
There are currently just three duplexes left for sale at Rowan Hill. All are two-beds measuring 1,270 sq ft and costing from €285,000.
These elevated two-storey homes are fully decorated and have a large open-plan living and dining area. Each has a west-facing balcony with views across a valley.
The bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and there is an ensuite for the master bedroom. There is a cobbled parking area adjacent to each home and the South Link access route is just a few minutes' drive away.
At Dunkerrin, another section at Mount Oval, there are four detached new-builds available from the first phase, which was launched almost a year ago. These four-beds are for sale off the plans, though the first few homes are due to be handed over in the coming weeks.
Accommodation at each of the homes extends to 1,708 sq ft over two floors and is priced from €500,000. They come with extensive landscaped gardens, cobbled driveways, and feature railings to the front.
