Picturesque village houses lure locals
Hazelbrook, Malahide, Co Dublin
Malahide locals are traditionally loath to leave behind the picturesque coastal village when they are house-hunting, preferring instead to stay close to the suburb's high-end restaurants, gourmet food shops, beaches, Malahide Castle, and the 350-berth marina.
It's no surprise, then, that Malahide natives have dominated sales at Hazelbrook, 2km from the centre of the village and 500m from the castle. The last tranche of 20 homes at Hazelwood was released in September, but two homes there are still available for purchase. Both are from the E2 range, a four-bed double-fronted detached style with 1,816 sq ft of living space and a south-facing garden.
One of the two properties is priced from €825,000, while the other - a showhouse styled by interior designer Helen Turkington - is on the market at €910,000. Three larger four-bed detached homes, currently being constructed at Hazelwood, will be available at a later stage; each one will span 2,152 sq ft, have a large west-facing plot, and will cost from €895,000.
The facades of the two houses presently for sale are finished in Ibstock Chaley brick and monocouche render, with a Hercules timber front door and Tegral roof slates. Inside, buyers have a choice of colours for the hand-painted in-frame kitchen, which is supplied by BeSpace and is fitted with Smeg appliances. The living room comes with a bespoke fire surround from Clifford's Fireplaces and a Gazco Riva insert fire.
Hazelbrook is just 2km from Malahide Dart station and a 15-minute drive from Dublin Airport. Viewings of the showhouse are by appointment. Enquiries to: JLL (01) 6731600
