The Meadows, Kill, Co Kildare Asking price: €360,000 Agent: Savills (01) 6181300 & Coonans (045) 832020

Kill in Co Kildare was a small rural village up to the 1960s. Locals made their living through farming or working at the nearby quarry. There was a forge in the centre of the town where the farmers brought their horses to be shod, and weekends were centred around the two churches — St John’s and the Church of St Brigid and St Mary.

The population in the town grew as bungalows and small housing estates were built in the 1960s and ’70s when families moved out of Dublin in search of a less hectic life and a more affordable home.

Over the intervening years, developments like The Stables and Earls Court have been consistently popular with first-time buyers who are willing to take on the commute.

The arrival of hybrid working models has seen counties like Kildare, Wicklow and Louth come to the attention of buyers who would have previously dismissed a move out of the city.

With Kill located just off the M7, making it a 15-minute drive to the Red Cow roundabout, the launch this weekend of The Meadows in the village is expected to attract these buyer types.

There are just 12 houses being released in this first phase of the scheme.

The floor area in the properties range from 926sq ft up to 1,410sq ft, depending on the house type.

The houses by Cannon Kirk are due to be ready for occupation by the end of the year and there will be another phase released late this summer.

When complete, the properties will have a brick and dash rendered finish, with a traditional interlocking flat tile that give a clean and modern look. Front driveways will be paved and back gardens will be seeded.
