Make an environmental impact for the good
Carr's lane Balfgriffin, Dublin 17
Asking price: From €280k
Contractor: Townmore (057) 935 2761
Carr's Lane, an apartment scheme being built in Balgriffin, will be one of the first private residential developments to be certified under the Irish Green Building Council's Home Performance Index, which takes into account not just energy efficiency but issues such as the cost of transport to and from a scheme, indoor air quality, and the environmental impact of the development.
Construction on the apartment scheme, which will be located where the eponymous Carr's Lane meets the Malahide Road, has already begun and is scheduled to be completed by next summer.
The scheme will be set amidst the site's historic Holm oak trees and a park. It will source renewable energy via the air-to-water heat pumps to each apartment and there will be solar panels on the roof and bicycle storage on site.
The scheme is being developed by Carr's Lane Limited, and the main contractor is Tullamore-based Townmore, which is also constructing an extension to Wynn's Hotel on Dublin's Abbey Street.
Carr's Lane will comprise 59 one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments. Industry sources believe prices will start at about €280,000 for a one-bed apartment. The apartment blocks will have facades finished in buff brick, cedar cladding and white render. Floor-to-ceiling windows will allow natural light to flood into the kitchen and living areas.
