Hatch a plan to work remotely in Gorey
Millquarter, Gorey, Co Wexford
Asking price: From €270,000
Agent: Sherry FitzGerald O'Leary Kinsella (053) 943 0088
Gorey has returned to its boom-era status as a commuter town, with buyers prepared to move to the sunny southeast in exchange for a cheaper house within an hour's drive from employment in the south Dublin suburbs.
Indeed, first-time buyers from Dublin and Wicklow, along with Gorey locals, have accounted for much of the sales to date at MillQuarter, a residential development that launched in the town in January. MillQuarter is beside the Amber Springs Hotel and right next door to The Hatch Lab co-working space - handy for relocators who have the flexibility to work remotely.
There are currently 15 three, four and five-bed detached houses available at the scheme, with Redmond Construction expecting it to comprise 150 units when it's finished (though planning has not yet been finalised).
Prices start at €270,000 for a three-bed semi-detached home, rising to €289,000 for a four-bed version.
A four-bed detached house at MillQuarter costs from €330,000, while a four-bed detached style with a study is priced from €345,000. The latter is also the same price for the five-bed, three-storey detached design.
Prospective residents can use a Smartzone app to control functions such as security, video, and energy use, including the air-to-water heating.
There are also plans afoot to build a children's play area and a mini sports pitch at the estate.
The MillQuarter showhouse will be open for viewings tomorrow from 2pm to 3pm.
