Good life with school around the corner
Rathvarna, Killeshin, Co Laois
City-weary house-hunters seeking a taste of the Good Life could opt for a scheme in Killeshin, a rural village just 5km west of Carlow town that overlooks the picturesque Barrow valley.
The Co Laois village (locals typically use a Co Carlow address, though) is centred around a pub, school, community centre, church, GAA club and a soccer pitch. The new purpose-built national school is within the confines of an estate called Rath Glen, so children living in the development can walk to school.
MB Homes released Rath Glen in 2011, and after the 40 homes eventually sold, the builder used adjacent land to develop a new section of the development called Rathvarna. This section consists of six four-bed detached homes, each measuring 1,671 sq ft and priced from €265,000.
Rathvarna was launched in March and there are still three available. The homes have a brick and render façade and cream frames to the triple-glazed windows. There is a tarmacadam drive to the front and a garden to the rear. PV panels generate additional electricity.
There are solid oak doors in a shaker style and patio doors off the open-plan kitchen/diner.
