Gold coast means life's a beach for buyers
Maydenhayes, Mornington, Co Meath
House-hunters are heading to the Gold Coast in the quest for more house for their buck. A 10-minute drive from Mornington sits Maydenhayes, which Pivotal Construction has been building since 2015.
The scheme, named after the area surrounding Mornington's 60ft-Maiden Tower, is being constructed in a U-shape around the 19th-century Donacarney House and its estate. Some 150 families have moved in, mostly professionals or first-time buyers. The latter cohort are drawn to the three-bed semi-detached styles as Pivotal will fit the attics with trusses - at an extra cost - so buyers can extend upwards. There are currently 20 homes for sale, including three-bed semis that span 1,184 sq ft and cost from €295,000.
Also still available are three-bed semis in another part of the development priced from €287,500. Four-bed semis measuring 1,603 sq ft, meanwhile, cost from €325,000.
Externally, there is a combination of brick and render to the facades of the homes, with grey to the frames of the future-proofed UPVC windows and to the rear French doors.
The showhouses are on view every Saturday and Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 12pm to 4pm.
