First-time buyers snap up Cork smart-homes
Ballinglanna, Glanmire, Cork
Asking price: €295,000
Agent: Sherry FitzGerald New Homes (021) 427 3041
With two-bed townhouses at Ballinglanna, a new scheme in the Cork town of Glanmire, selling off the plans at just €247,000, more than 700 people - most of them first-time buyers qualifying for the help-to-buy scheme - showed up at the marketing suite for the mid-February launch to place a deposit.
So it was no surprise that the two-beds within the first 40 homes to be released at the development sold out almost immediately. The remaining 20 houses include three-bed townhouses priced from €295,000, three-bed semi-detached homes costing from €327,500, four-bed semis selling for €380,000, and four-bed detached properties priced from €485,000.
Glanmire is a popular commuter town located 9km from the centre of Cork City. Ballinglanna will comprise 600 homes when it's complete and there is planning permission for a school, a creche, retail units and upgrades to the local road infrastructure.
The house styles at Ballinglanna will have a paved driveway out front, a fenced garden to the rear, and energy-efficient UPVC windows throughout. Inside, there will be underfloor heating to the ground floor and two of the bedrooms will come with wardrobes. All of the A-rated homes will be wired for smart-home technology.
