The final phase has been released at Crenigans Bánóg, wrapping up a scheme of three, four and five-bed semi-detached and detached homes in Ashbourne that was named after both a local volunteer in the Easter Rising and the golf club across the road.
The name of the development, located on the town's Milltown Road, was inspired by John Crenigan, who lost his life fighting in the Battle of Ashbourne in 1916. The second part of the scheme's name, Bánóg, translates as 'fairway' and is a hat-tip to the estate's proximity to Ashbourne Golf Club. Buyers at Crenigans Bánóg get free social membership to the golf club.
Of the 19 homes in the last phase, there are still 13 for sale. Ten of these are four-bed semi-detached properties that measure 1,452 sq ft and are priced from €345,000.
Also available are two three-bed mid-terrace dwellings with an attic store-room that have a €290,000 price tag and 1,260 sq ft of space, as well as a single 2,207 sq ft five-bed detached home costing €530,000 that sits on a large site directly overlooking the golf course.
The five-bed and some of the four-beds have cobbled driveways out front, while the remainder come with parking bays. Completion dates range from May to September.
The block-built houses have brick facades with granite detailing. They come with contemporary-style fitted kitchens and bedroom wardrobes, or an allowance can be arranged. Each of the properties has an A building energy rating, courtesy of an air-to-water energy-saving heat pump that can be controlled via a smartphone app, low-energy lighting, water-saving sanitary ware, and future-proof, argon-filled glazed windows.
The centre of Ashbourne is within walking distance from Crenigans Bánóg and there are two primary schools and one secondary school close to the development. Tayto Park is 5km away, while Newgrange and the start of the Boyne Valley Drive is a 20-minute journey. The trip to Dublin, via the M50 and M2 motorways, takes at least 25 minutes by car or bus.
