Clane scheme could tempt Dublin commuters
Abbottfield Clane, Co Kildare
Asking price: From €320,000
Agent: Coonan New Homes (01) 628 6128
Abbottfield, the name of a new scheme in Clane, is a nod to the Co Kildare town's origins in the sixth century, when Saint Ailbe of Emly founded an abbey there.
These days, the Liffey-side spot is a dormitory town for Dublin, which is 32km away. And buyers who are willing to put in a commute between Co Kildare and the capital are amongst the target market for Abbottfield.
Westin Homes is building 46 three and four-beds in the first section of the scheme, which launched in early March. There are currently four homes for sale from the most recent tranche. Three of the properties are from the Orchard three-bed semi-detached style, which measures 1,200 sq ft and costs from €320,000. The remaining property is a four-bed detached home spanning 1,951 sq ft, but because it's a showhouse, a price isn't publicly available.
The block-built houses have a full-brick façade, using Ibstock's Old World brick, and the pale green front door is flanked by side glazing. There is sandstone to the surrounds of the double-glazed PVC windows. To the rear is a garden and a paved patio.
Commuters who buy one of the A-rated houses have easy access to the M4 and M7 motorways, with Dublin city centre a 35-minute drive away during off-peak periods. There is also a commuter rail service from the Sallins and Naas train station, which is 6km away from Clane.
Viewings are by appointment.
