Plans for some 2,814 built-to-rent apartments for Dublin were lodged with An Bord Pleanála in the second week of May alone, with so-called cuckoo funds effectively locking out individual buyers and families from buying their own home.
The trend for build-to-rent is particularly acute in areas such as the south Docklands. Indeed, Park Developments points out that its new Hanover Court development, which launched yesterday, is the only new-build residential Docklands scheme for sale in Dublin 2.
The 40 apartments at Hanover Court are located within the new Reflector building at Grand Canal Dock. The units, which are already built, are aimed at trader-uppers, investors and those looking for a central Dublin base.
Sizes for the one-bed apartments range from 592 sq ft to 710 sq ft, with prices starting at €495,000. The two-beds each measure between 861 sq ft and 1,116 sq ft and are priced from €685,000, while the three-beds, which span between 1,131 sq ft and 1,342 sq ft, cost from €830,000.
Two show apartments at Hanover Court will be on view today, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and from 5pm to 6.30pm. Viewings will continue from 11am to 1pm tomorrow.
