A3-rated houses a lure to families
The Oaks, Ashbourne, Co Meath
With prices of up to €605,000, the four-bed detached homes that make up The Oaks are at the higher end of the Ashbourne residential market. But the hefty price-tags didn't deter more than 65 couples from visiting the showhouse in the wake of the development's launch last weekend.
The Oaks, an infill scheme being built by Highpark Developments, consists of just six family homes off Bachelor's Walk, just a few minutes' walk from the centre of the Co Meath dormitory town. There are two house types available: type A measures 1,969 sq ft and has bay windows to the side of the house, off the ground and first floor, while type B spans 1,948 sq ft and has its bay window to the front of the house, off the ground floor. Prices start at €575,000 and go up to €605,000.
Externally, the facade of each home is finished in Corum brick and painted render, with a slate canopy over a black front door and dark grey to the frames of the double-glazed UPVC windows. There is a brick boundary finished with pier cappings to the front of each private cobblelock driveway.
Inside, each kitchen comes with soft-close drawers, appliances, and quartz countertops and upstands. The centrepiece of the living room is a wood-burning stove. The fitted wardrobes in all the bedrooms are also in a contemporary design, and the bathrooms and ensuites are fitted with heated towel rails, extractor fans and come with a tiling allowance. Energy-saving features at the A3-rated properties include PV panels to generate electricity. Dublin city centre is 22km away from Ashbourne. Viewings will continue tomorrow, from 1pm to 3pm.
