The phones at one veterinary clinic have been ringing "non-stop" since they posted an advert looking for someone to fill their cat cuddling role.

Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in Clonsilla, Dublin created a job post yesterday in search of a full-time 'cat cuddler.'

The job post detailed that they want a cat calming expert to join their 'feline friendly staff.'

"It’s not a standard veterinary role, it’s slightly different," Roisín Foran, head of Just Cats veterinary nursing, told Independent.ie.

"We want the cats to enjoy their time here after visits or surgeries, we want someone to reassure them and make them happy.

"The phones have been ringing non-stop since the job was posted, the lines haven’t stopped all morning."

The purrfect candidate, should be able to say yes to the following questions:

- Does cattitude come naturally to you?

- Have you counted kittens before you go asleep?

- Do you feed the stray cats in your locality?

- Does petting cats make you feel warm and fuzzy?”

The job post can be found on their website and the ideal  "crazy cat lover" should have the ability to "understand the different types of purring" and  have "gentle hands capable of petting and stroking cats for long periods of time."

"We’re trying to appeal to a wider audience, perhaps a student nurse or someone who wants a change from the clinical side of things," Roisín added.

A qualification recognised by the veterinary council of Ireland is also required.
