House 2016: Top tips from painting expert Annie Sloan
No priming or sanding is needed for a good paint job, just the paint itself, according to expert Annie Sloan.
The Chalkpaint owner has just over 30 paints available in her range but told attendees at her talk at house 2016 that a lot can be done with a small range of colours.
"Don't think about the technical aspects, just paint," she said on the Miele Inspiration Stage.
"Keep the designs simple."
The author of 25 books talked about mud walls, avoiding 'squishy' leather sofas and using a hairdryer to create designs.
Her business, which has been running for 25 years, now has over 1,500 stockists worldwide and Ireland was one of the first where the brand took off. Her paints, which stock colours from Barcelona orange to Greek blue, are focused on fuss-free painting for DIY-ers.
The 'Colour Techniques' talk was one of the busiest attended so far today at house 2016.
