A new washing powder is on the market, promising to keep your sheets clean while other areas of your life get filthier.
Ahead of the Fifty Shades of Grey film’s release on Valentine’s Day, the cleaning brand have released a new ‘Flirty Shades of Surf’ liquid powder.
The laundry cleaning product is infused with rose, jasmine and sandalwood - evocative scents that Surf promises will bring a “touch of naughtiness” to the bedroom.
Surf were inspired to create the product to restore “a touch of cheekiness to the daily wash” and have referred to research that suggests the aphrodisiac qualities of the scents will do just that.
In order to drum up publicity, Surf have been sending the buff ‘Household Heroes’ to women across Britain to help out with the housework.
Meanwhile, a UK consumer has started a Change.org petition, in protest of the company’s advertising campaign.
‘Erika’ from Swindon states, “I started this campaign after seeing an advert for Surf's Flirty Shades liquid. It glorifies and normalises abuse of women and is not appropriate to be sold as a laundry product.”
“Laundry products should not be sexualised and children should be protected from seeing this,” she adds
‘Flirty Shades of Surf’ currently retails for €8 in supermarkets nationwide.
