The treacherous weather of late has been reason enough to avoid the outdoors but a futuristic dome in County Fermanagh is the dream for hopeful Irish star-gazers who want to keep toasty.

The glass bubbles which have popped up in the Finn Lough Resort in the county provide guests with the opportunity to sleep beneath the sky in the midst of the forest... without having to face the elements.

Designed by Belleek’s Ronan Lowery, the glass domes are ultra snazzy and fitted out with an en-suite, a four poster bed and a Nespresso machine as well as two cosy armchairs to soak in the great outdoors without ever leaving the bubble.

The forest-centred domes are the only ones of their kind in Ireland and the UK.

Gillian Beare, director of Finn Lough resort, said: “The driving force for this development was a desire to offer something different for the discerning traveller, something beyond four walls and a bed.

"We wanted an accommodation product that truly offered a sense of place, one in which guests could disconnect from the everyday noise in their lives and reconnect with the simple pleasures of nature.”
