Village life near Malahide Castle
If you walk about 600 metres north from Creagh, at The Hill in Malahide, you'll reach the village main street, where you can get a haircut or tuck into a steak or catch a train, or, indeed, all three.
And if you walk about 400 metres in the other direction, down the Back Road, you'll reach one of the entrances to the Malahide Castle demesne, where you'll be able to wander among 22 acres of gardens or tour the castle, or both.
The house does have a garden of its own - not a very big one but it does face west, and has a patio and lawn and some admirably tidy flowerbeds.
You can reach the garden from two sets of French doors in the house, one in the sunroom and the other in the dining room. The sunroom has a vaulted ceiling with a glazed apex, and there's a wood-burning stove set into a brick alcove there.
The sunroom is down a flight of three steps from a smallish sitting area, also with a tiled floor, which is itself open-plan to the kitchen and dining room.
The kitchen has integrated appliances, marble countertops and a centre island with a wine cooler, so there won't be far to go when the wine glasses in the garden are in need of refilling.
The ground floor has two other reception rooms as well - a sitting room with a marble fireplace with gas fire, and a study that might do as a spare bedroom, since it has access to a shower room that's also reached from the entrance hall.
Up on the first floor are four more bedrooms.
The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite shower, and two of the other bedrooms share an en-suite. The floor area is 2,583 sq ft in total.
