Under the sea: Scramble in Dubai to get the deed to €1.2m underwater villas
Prospective home owners in Dubai are splashing cash on the city’s latest fad, luxurious villas submerged beneath the sea.
The 1700sqft homes boast three floors, two of which offer views below sea level.
More than forty underwater villas are being constructed as part of a community four kilometres off Dubai’s coast and each will hit the market for €1.2m.
The villa’s kitchen, bathroom and living room will be located on the bottom floor of the property more than 13ft under water.
The master bedroom and bathroom will be located on the central floor of the elaborate villas.
The villas will be topped with a roof terrace which will include a small private pool and spectacular views of the ocean.
The large scale build is part of Kleindienst Group’s Heart of Europe project which aims to create six above water island’s each themed on a European country.
Speaking of the island Udhay Lall, project director for the development, said: “They’re not going to be constructed on land.
“They’re going to be fabricated on dry docks and will be shipped out and positioned in the water where they belong.
“I think the first one should be out in the water by 2016.”
