This detached home is imposing in many ways, but the first thing to hit you is the massive arched entrance encasing the front door. Calling it a 'fanlight' doesn't do it justice; instead it's a mass of glass making you feel like a bit of a celebrity when you come calling.

The luxe feeling continues inside the 3,500 sq ft of 'Ronard'. There are five bedrooms in this detached property and throughout the house the sense is of plush furnishings, expensive window treatments (that's drapes to you and me), and thick pile rugs.

Although it's a contemporary modern house, the inside is far away from the sterile minimalist look so common today. If you're the traditional sort at heart, then this is for you.

There are nice gallery landings with feature floor-to-ceiling windows giving great views. There are some pretty stained-glass features in the kitchen and a large panel in one of the bathrooms.

Elsewhere, glass is the main event in the sun room, which is a conservatory with glass walls and vaulted ceiling.

There is sit-down seating and a dining area, along with more seating outside on the patio into which it leads, under a gazebo. The garden is overlooked; not by the neighbours, but granite walls, large over-hanging trees and a nicely manicured lawn split over three levels.

Elsewhere there is a family room, snooker room, large kitchen/utility with a breakfast counter, dining room, study and guest WC.

The five bedrooms are over all four floors (from garden level, to ground and two upper storeys), with one in the attic (en-suite with walk-in wardrobe), three in the mid-floor and the fifth downstairs.

There are a number of bathrooms also. All this is set behind electric gates and there is plenty of off-street parking; important in a parking ticket-happy place like Monkstown village which is, at least, a short stroll away.

The exact location is Richmond Park Drive and this allows easy access to Blackrock, the city centre and Dun Laoghaire. Seaside amenities play a big part, but there are plenty of dry land activities also, from golf to rugby and tennis. Seapoint and Salthill Dart stations are equidistant and walkable.
