An ornate mews house more than 120 years old is tucked into Lad Lane just behind Wilton Terrace along the Grand Canal in Dublin 2.

It features the original granite exterior wall which is inset with electric iron gates and a Judas gate for foot access.

The arched portico leads to a paved patio area to the front of the house and most likely it was originally the entrance for a 19th century coach house.

There is one off-street parking space here, but an additional disc for on-street space is available.

The use of stone is reflected in the front finish, with the original architraves retained over three arches. Cream and white sash windows have been added as well as black front door.

Inside it has been brought right into the 21st century with American solid-oak flooring and open-plan spaces. The property is unfurnished at present but should the tenant require furniture, this can be added by the landlord.

The kitchen is modern, with grey and white hi-gloss units, a siltstone counter-top and full range of appliances including a double-sided fridge freezer, dishwasher, double oven, five-ring hob and wine cooler. Windows line the length of this narrow room.

There is a separate utility room with laundry appliances.

The living/dining room has an unusual gas fire in a three-sided 'tunnel' design which acts as something of a room separator so the space could be used for a sitting room with dining room, or perhaps an office, den or workshop space.

Recessed speakers provide surround sound, there is a plasma screen on the wall and also a guest shower room on this floor.

Upstairs is a master bedroom with ensuite and two other double bedrooms, which are carpeted. Once again there is another fully-tiled shower room at this level.

Outside, there is a west-facing large patio which is private as it is surrounded by the high granite wall.

Here, a stone-baked pizza oven has been fitted, with an integrated barbeque and fridge.

Given its location, it's ideal for someone needing quick access to the city centre.

The minimum lease of two years calls for a corporate let, or someone on a contract.

The Luas green line is within a few minutes' walk, as is Fitzwilliam Square and the National Concert Hall. St Stephen's Green is 700m away.
