A discount of €25,000 applies to the first purchaser of one of these four, individually designed detached homes at The Paddock, near Ramelton in Donegal.

Each uses natural stone cladding and comes with a detached garage on sites ranging from 0.6-0.7 acres.

All are four-bedroomed but are differently styled. Type 1 is 2,895 sq ft and priced at €285,000; Type 2 is 2,787 sq ft and €280,000 and the Type 4 measures 2,906 sq ft and costs €270,000.

The Type 3 is the show house and the largest at 3,498 sq ft. It has a large entrance hallway, kitchen, dining room, living room, sun room, utility room and one downstairs bedroom with a shower room.

Upstairs are three double bedrooms, the master is en-suite with a walk-in wardrobe, a study and main bathroom. It is priced at €315,000, although should the purchaser wish to retain the furnishings, the cost will increase to €330,000.

Seaside living is always pleasant in the summer so not surprisingly, eight of the 12 houses launched at Dunard on the Swords Road have sold.

This leaves three for sale plus a future showhouse, not currently available. A further seven will come on stream later in the year.

'Dunard' was the name of the big house, now demolished, which sat on this site. And the remaining new homes built after it, by Highpark Developments, include a three-bedroom semi-detached and two four-bedroom semi-detached.

The first (B2 style) is priced at €470,000 and is 1,245 sq ft and has a downstairs open-plan space for the kitchen/dining/family room with a separate living room, WC and storage area. Upstairs are three bedrooms, the master takes up the width of the house and is en-suite. There is a family bathroom, hot press and storage closet.

Rathnew is 3.2km from Wicklow town and 46km from Dublin city centre. It is directly off the main N11 road and has Mount Usher gardens and Ashford within 4km.

This was one of the first rent-to-buy schemes initiated in the country, so many of the current residents benefited under the initiative here.

There are six homes on view in the latest phase – all three-bedroom semi-detached units.

Aimed partly at the trade-down market, given its location, each house is pre-designed with room for elevator installation either immediately or in the future. This feature might appeal to those looking towards permanent retirement.

The houses have a southerly aspect and incorporate a kitchen/dining area with double oven and hob fitted, living room and utility room downstairs while upstairs has three bedrooms (the master is en-suite and has French doors leading out to a balcony). There is a family bathroom here also.

Built by Al Uisce Developments, solar panels make the most use of the sunny south-east's weather and the properties are 1,238 sq ft and priced at €149,500. They come with a B1 BER rating.

Ard Uisce is 3km from Wexford town and there is a Gaelscoil 1.5km from the development. Wexford golf club and GAA park are both nearby.

The houses are priced at €179,000 each and are 1,650 sq ft.

Elysian Meadows is 2.2km from Carrick town centre and marina. Boyle is 17km away, while Dublin is 150km.

Rathcoole is 18km north of Sallins and 22km from Dublin city centre. There are a number of business parks close by, including Greenogue, Kingswood and Citywest.
