Starter homes with eye on the future
Oaktree, Kildare Town, Co Kildare
Novice Dublin house-hunters eager to pay a mortgage rather than surging rents are the target market for Oaktree, a development on the edge of Kildare town that's just a 30-minute train journey from the capital.
The scheme, which is being built by Grandbrind on the town's Tully Road - home to the Irish National Stud - was launched earlier this year and will feature 163 three and four-bed houses in variety of layouts when it is finished. A third phase, comprising 14 three-bed semi-detached homes, was launched last weekend and six are still available.
While the two units from the B1 style, which features an extended side entry and is priced from €280,000, were promptly reserved at the weekend, there are still three-bed semi-detached homes from the B range up for grabs. These have between 1,184 sq ft and 1,302 sq ft of accommodation and are priced from €262,500. The three-bed properties were designed with growing families in mind: each are fitted with attic trusses to enable residents to extend into the attic at a future stage.
The houses have 9ft ceiling-to-floor heights throughout the ground floors.
The custom-designed shaker-style fitted wood kitchens are painted and come with a Robinson Oak worktop and upstand. All the bedrooms are fitted with shaker-style wardrobes in a light grey colour.
The stairs leading up to the first floor of the A3-rated homes are fitted with LED lights, a Grandbrind hallmark.
Oaktree is 2km from Kildare train station and 1km from both the bus terminus and access to the M7 motorway.
Viewings of the Oaktree showhouses continue tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm.
