The rapidly expanding Co Meath village of Bettystown has become a popular hub for developers catering to first-time buyers priced out of the Dublin property market.

Just off the seaside village's Eastham Road, about 1km from the centre of Bettystown and from its popular beach, Urban Life is building 115 homes at a scheme called Dun Eimear. The first phase of 40 three and four-bed semi-detached homes was released off the plans in May.

Some 20 sales have since been racked up and two showhouses opened last weekend to market the remaining 20. Prices at Dun Eimear start at €259,000 for a three-bed semi-detached home, at €285,000 for a four-bed semi-detached style and at €290,000 for a four-bed semi on an end site.

The façades are finished in a mix of brick-and-cream render, and there is also cream to the frames of the windows and front doors.

Inside, buyers have a choice of colours and contemporary-style work surfaces for the shaker-style kitchen. There are built-in wardrobes in two of the bedrooms, while the master bedroom has a large ensuite bathroom with heated chrome towel rails. The heating system in the A-rated houses can be controlled remotely through a Climote smartphone app.

Bettystown is served by train from Laytown railway station and by bus. The village is a 25-minute drive to Dublin Airport and is 40 minutes from the city centre, traffic permitting.

The showhouses will be on view again this weekend, from 2pm to 4pm tomorrow and Sunday.
