Old-school charm in Dublin 22
2 Moyle Park €435k
Clondalkin was a rural village back when Number 2 Moyle Park was built at Convent Road in what's now Dublin 22.
This was some time just before or during World War Two, when the English poet John Betjeman was also living in the neighbourhood for a time.
Moyle Park and its neighbours (it's semi-detached) were erected in the grounds of Moyle Park House, now Moyle Park College secondary school for boys, and its garden backs onto the college grounds.
Number 2 was bought by its current owner more than 30 years ago and used as a dental surgery, so the house can still be turned to commercial use if necessary. The room that was the surgery is now a beauty treatment room, so there's a lot less terror within the walls these days.
Otherwise, the agents suggest that room, which is inside the front door and to the left, could be used as a study or spare bedroom, as it has an en-suite toilet.
On the other side of the entrance hall there are two oak-floored reception rooms linked by double doors.
At the front is a living room with a 1930s tiled fireplace and a bay window, and behind it is a dining room, where the fireplace is sealed up.
At the back of the house is the kitchen, which opens through glass folding doors into a tile-floored conservatory with an exposed brick wall.
Up on the first floor are four bedrooms and a bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, and above that there's an attic that hasn't been converted. The total floor area is 1,572 sq ft.
There's parking on the front driveway and a decked and paved garden out the back, sheltered by the trees in the college grounds.
Number 2 Moyle Park is for sale for €435,000 with Finnegan Menton (01) 614 7900.
