First-phase launch of three and four-bed family homes by the beach
Skerries has seen much new building over the last few years and given its proximity to motorway networks, the Airport and both Drogheda and Dublin, it's a favourite for families everywhere - although the long sandy beach outweighs most of the practical stuff, for the kids at least.
One of the bigger sites is at Barnageeragh Cove, the Winsac-built development, which comes to market this weekend with 19 three and four-bed homes aimed at the family market.
Developer Bernie Carroll has constructed this next door to his previous Kelly's Bay site and says a number will be ready for occupation by year end, with the rest completed by early 2017.
Overall, he says there are almost 100 further properties to go - bungalows, detached and three and four-beds along with 62 duplexes over the next three years.
This tranche ranges from mid-terrace three-beds to detached four-beds. The elevated site slopes to the waterfront and some child friendly features such as a playground, seating areas and a winding pathway have been incorporated.
Ardgillan Castle is over the bay and the train station at Skerries ensures efficient transport to Dublin at Connolly, Pearse and Tara Street stations. Skerries has a number of primary and secondary schools also.
The three-beds measure 1,130 sq ft and will be selling from €300,000 for the mid-terrace, which seems about right for the location. They have a nice study on the return stair which has been in-built with a desk at the big picture window.
There is a large kitchen/dining room to the rear where French doors lead out to the patio and garden, while there is a separate living room up front. These come in semi-detached style also.
The four-beds are 1,650 sq ft and will be on the market for €475,000 for the detached and €390,000 for the semi-detached.
These have a great entertainment room on the first floor along with two bedrooms and a bathroom. The top floor has a further two bedrooms, including the master, which is ensuite. These are designed in such a way that they appear three storeys to the front and two to the back.
