Some of the smaller two- and three-bedroom Castlegrange homes are on view tomorrow and Sunday.

There's been quite a pickup in building activity in the Dublin 15 area of late, and the latest is at Castlegrange, which will be a substantial development of about 250 new two-, three- and four-bedroom homes aimed firmly at the first-time buyer and family market. For now, there are a range of the smaller houses on view with the four-beds following later this year. Completions are expected by the autumn.

The houses are presented in a decorative mottled red brick with contrast detailing bands. They have cream windows, a black front door with glass panel inset and are either terraced or semi-detached. Driveways are paved, with high half-walls separating units which have shrubbery between them. The end-of-terraces have tall, gable-type arches.

All are 'A' rated from developer EP Lynam, which was responsible for, among others, Lohunda Park and Charnwood and would be well known locally.

Two-bedroom homes measure 922 sq ft and have a kitchen/dining room in a square shape to the rear, a guest WC and separate living room up front. Upstairs the main bedroom has an en-suite, and there is a second bedroom and bathroom. These will be priced from €249,000.

The three-beds are 1,237 sq ft and have a different shaped kitchen/dining area, utility room, WC and living room. Upstairs one of the three bedrooms is en-suite and there is a bathroom. These will start from €299,000.

Interiors are from Ventura Designs and make the most of the open plan space which families seem to prefer these days. Kitchens are from Kitchen Elegance and appliances are included. Windows are uPVC double glazed, there are solar panels, a heat recovery system, an A-band gas condensing boiler, an electric fire in the sitting room, all of which brings a high A3 BER rating to the properties.

Given the location, sandwiched between Clonsilla and Ongar, adjacent to both the N3 and N4 motorways, Castlegrange has a ton of amenities on its doorstep. Blanchardstown town centre and the IT, Ongar village, Hartstown park, the National Aquatic centre and, a short hop down the N3, the Phoenix Park and onward to the city centre.

There are regular rail services from Clonsilla and the new Hansfield station to the city in 25 minutes and onwards to the Docklands. The area is well serviced by Dublin Bus (route 39A) and there are plenty of schools in the area, both primary and secondary.
