Interior designer Colette Sylver's professional touch is evident in her stylish and inviting home. The well- considered Christmas decorations ramp up the warm welcoming feeling, yet it's easier to achieve an air of festive elegance than you think.

Her Christmas table, for instance, took just 10 minutes to set. And simple touches, such as the glass baubles on each plate, are a lovely touch.

Stockings hang from a laden mantelpiece; Colette bought the stove in C&R Fireplaces in Navan, while the mantelpiece was made in Heritage Kitchens in Trim, Co Meath.

Colette is a fan of Irish art and among the works she has on display are pieces by Ayelet Lalor, Kenneth Webb, Chris Flynn and Gavin Lavelle.

A graduate of the National College of Design in Dublin, Colette went on to work in San Francisco where she set up Dezign Studio. She returned to Dunboyne, Co Meath, in 2008 and created The Interiors Directory.

"Time is valuable, which is why I started the Interiors Directory, so that people can see who does what, where, and also to get an idea as to what they stock."
