Lodgings with appeal in Thurles
Willows Lodge €460k
The Willows is a small residential enclave between the Slievenamon Road and the River Suir, just south of Thurles town centre.
The biggest of the houses there is Willows Lodge, a large, two-storey detached house on a corner site near the entrance to the estate.
Built in 2007, Willows Lodge is 3,154 sq ft with five bedrooms. Four are on the first floor, with the master bedroom en-suite and there's one guest bedroom downstairs, also en-suite.
Most of the rest of the ground floor is given over to living and entertaining, with four main rooms all flowing into each other.
Right of the entrance hall there's a sitting room, which has a marble fireplace and two sets of double doors.
One set of double doors leads to a dining room and the other to the kitchen, and both of these rooms have sliding doors to a conservatory, at the south-west corner of the house. The arrangement means the occupants can easily circulate through all four rooms. If you want a little more privacy, there's also a separate living room to the left of the entrance hall, together with an office or library upstairs. The entrance hall itself is 9ft wide and has a solid-oak, open string staircase.
Willows Lodge has a large garden out the front, which is gravelled with plenty of room for parking and has an ornamental tree in an island in the middle.
The rest of the garden consists of a patio to the side, on the south-western elevation.
It's about a 15-minute walk from here to the centre of Thurles.
If you drive in the opposite direction you'll reach the M8 motorway after about five minutes and reach Dublin in an hour-and-a-half.
The agent for the sale of Willows Lodge is Sherry FitzGerald Gleeson in Thurles, (0504) 22997, and it has an asking price of €460,000.
