An improving hand will be needed at No71 Shanganagh Grove, although it's said to have been well maintained since it was built in the 1960s. It's also been extended in the past decade or so, to 1,107 sq ft, although there's the possibility of doing more, as several of the neighbours have extended into their back gardens. The rear extension is a single-storey skylit kitchen, off which is a dining room with patio doors, and there's a front living room too with a gas-fitted fireplace. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a shower room. It overlooks a pocket park out the front with some nice ornamental trees.

It's likely the days of No1 Lower Road, at least as it stands today, may be numbered. It's an early 20th century cottage that needs refurbishment, but its big advantage is the site it stands on, and the potential that offers. The cottage, measuring 560 sq ft, has a sitting room and a kitchenette, both with fireplaces, a sun porch and two dual-aspect bedrooms, along with a bathroom. It's described as being in "original condition" with no central heating. The grounds, however, amount to 0.1 of an acre and include an L-shaped, one-and-a-half storey shed or workshop measuring 1,636 sq ft.

194 New Vale

New Vale and Library Road are lined with cute cottages such as this one. But cute as they are, they're all outdone in cuteness by the library itself - a fabulous, early 20th century Arts and Crafts-style confection that's still in use, if only part-time. No194 is across the street from the library. It was previously on a half-acre site but planning was granted in 2018 to build three new houses there. No194 has kept a garden of its own, however, and has also been completely renovated and extended to 1,066 sq ft. The space includes three bedrooms towards the front (one ensuite) and an open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen at the back, with doors to the garden.

13 The Starlings

It's about half a kilometre from No13 The Starlings to Shankill Dart station, and it'll be a handy commute for parents of primary schoolchildren too, as you must pass Scoil Mhuire along the way. Built in 2013, No13 is an A3-rated townhouse measuring 1,480 sq ft on three floors, with four bedrooms. Two are on the first floor, (with one ensuite) and another two are on the second floor, where the master bedroom has an ensuite and balcony. The ground floor has a front kitchen and a rear living room with French doors to the west-facing patio and garden.
