The last time No 70 Ellesmere Avenue sold was in 2013, when it fetched the rock-bottom price of €130,000. Since then it's been completely renovated and generally done up to the nines, including an energy efficiency upgrade (the BER is now B3). The floor area is 1,442 sq ft including a converted attic currently used as a walk-in wardrobe. The first floor and return levels have the three bedrooms (the main one with an en-suite shower). A living room and a dining room downstairs both have fireplaces, and the extended kitchen has patio doors to the decked garden, which has vehicle access.

No 53 Manor Street, across the road from Kavanagh's pub, needs some modernising now, and a new owner may probably tinker with the layout as well. It has two front entrances, one leading to the main house and the other to a passageway going straight through to a sort of lean-to conservatory at the back, giving on to the paved rear garden. Off this are the kitchen, utility room and shower, with two reception rooms at the front. The three bedrooms are upstairs; the third can be reached only by going through the second. Above that is an attic conversion, giving a total floor area of 1,475 sq ft.

Close to the junction of North Circular Road and Dorset Street, No 483 North Circular Road is at the end of a terrace abutting Benedict's Gardens. It has period features including high corniced ceilings and fireplaces, and stands at 947 sq ft. Left of the entrance hall are the traditional two reception rooms, and the kitchen is at the back, giving onto an enclosed patio. The main bathroom is on the first-floor return, and the three bedrooms - two of them doubles and still with their original fireplaces - are on the first-floor proper.

Shandon Pitch & Putt Club is said to be one of the oldest such clubs in Ireland, having been founded in 1955. The club has an 18-hole course at Shandon Park in Phibsboro and is always recruiting new members. No 16 Shandon Crescent is around the corner from the club and is also a two-minute walk from both Mount Bernard Park and the Cabra Luas stop. It's 1,080 sq ft with two reception rooms and an extended kitchen on the ground floor and three bedrooms upstairs. The front garden has a lawn, and the back garden is paved and has a block-built shed.
