Four on the market: in Co Waterford
A choice of four properties currently available to buy in the sunny south east county of Waterford.
Graigariddy, Dumore East
€580k REA O'Shea O'Toole, (051) 876 757
Although it's a reasonably new build, this detached house on two acres outside Dunmore East has been made to look as if it was always there, with its reclaimed slate roof and its timber sash windows. It's a considerable size, at 4,000 sq ft with five bedrooms, the main one with an en-suite shower and dressing room. Downstairs there's an open-plan kitchen, living room and dining room along with two other reception rooms - a sitting room and a games room, both with patio doors. The gardens are a special pleasure, with a lily pond, rockeries and decking, and there are several outbuildings.
The Stables, Woodstown House
€139k Hutchinson Auctioneers, (051) 876 923
The most famous guest at Woodstown House at Woodstown in Co Waterford was Jackie Kennedy, who holidayed there with her children in 1967, four years after the assassination of her husband. There's a photo of her riding a horse, which she might have acquired from the Woodstown House stables - a lovely old block of buildings that has since been converted to holiday homes. This is a simple, semi-detached house with a sitting room, eat-in kitchen and shower on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs. There's a private garden as well as communal gardens with a children's play area and parking, and a service charge of €1,500 a year applies.
17 Rustic Road, Waterford city
€229k Ennis Gough, (051) 851 166
St Otteran is the patron saint of Waterford, having been (according to diocesan information) selected for the task by the Vikings in 1096. He also gave his name to St Otteran's hospital, a huge, forbidding-looking 'asylum' built in 1835 at Grange Road and serving as a psychiatric hospital today. A little way south of the hospital is The Grange, a modern housing development with 17 Rustic Road at the back of it, on a cul-de-sac surrounded by fields. It's a semi-detached house of 1,238 sq ft with three bedrooms upstairs and a fourth on the ground floor. Also downstairs there's a sitting room, dining room and kitchen with doors to a lawned and paved back garden.
Cilldara Cottage, High St, Stradbally
€235k Sherry FitzGerald Reynolds, (058) 23444
Cilldara Cottage is part of a cute 19th-century terrace at Stradbally and is among the best-preserved of the group, its frontage remaining unaltered. It was completely renovated five years ago but still has authentic period features and is also blessed with a lovely long back garden, where there's a patio, pond and orchard. Inside, it's 1,026 sq ft with three upstairs bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower. The ground floor has a lounge at the front with a fireplace and an eat-in kitchen at the back with an Aga and French doors to the garden.
