Four properties on the market, including one which may have been a safe house for Michael Collins, which will go to auction.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether number 17 or 18 Harcourt Terrace was a safe house for Michael Collins. James Mackay's biography of  Collins is clear: he rented Number 17 in 1921 and used it as a hideout until the truce. Built in the late 19th century, it is 1,776 sq ft and still has all its original features. There's a drawing room, dining room, kitchen and utility on the ground floor, and four bedrooms and a bathroom on the first. It will be auctioned on November 5 at 2.30pm, unless it sells before that.

This gloriously dilapidated period house on the edge of Phoenix Park was last auctioned in 2013, when it fetched a reported €580,000. It's back on the market with an AMV €90k higher, but still needs complete refurbishment. It's on an elevated site of 1.25 acres bordered by the park, with an overgrown driveway. It has a garage, kitchen and two reception rooms on the ground floor, and four bedrooms above. Total floor space is 1,894 sq ft. The auction is on November 11 at 2.30pm.

The houses on the southern side of Leeson Park Avenue have a lot of privacy out the back, as their gardens abut the grounds of the Royal Hospital Donnybrook. Number 4, which will go under the hammer on November 5, has been extended to 1,905 sq ft. At hall level there's a sitting room and dining room knocked into one, and a bedroom on the return. The lower level, which has its own entrance, is much bigger. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a large kitchen and breakfast room, with sliding doors to the garden.

There are good sea views from the first floor of this detached, 1909-built property at Wilmont Avenue in Glenageary. The agents suggest a new owner might like to extend the house to take better advantage of this. 'Valmar' is full of period features. On the ground floor there are two reception rooms with fireplaces, as well as a sun room and a breakfast room off a galley kitchen. Upstairs are four bedrooms and a bathroom. Total area is 1,550 sq ft. It will be auctioned next Thursday, October 29.
