Exhibitions and history lessons on your doorstep in Dublin 7
56 Collins Sq, Smithfield, D7 €270k
All this year, the National Museum at Collins Barracks is showing an exhibition commemorating the first meeting of Dáil Éireann in January 1919.
This exhibition is not exactly a visual feast, although it does feature the boots that Harry Boland wore on a secret trip to America in May of that year, with official documents hidden in the soles.
Collins Square is an apartment complex right next door to the museum at Benburb Street, so from there you can visit the exhibition as often as you like without wearing out your own shoe leather.
Behind the development you'll see the grounds of the Law Society, and its tennis courts. A little way to the southwest is the Croppies Acre Memorial Park, honouring the dead of 1798. And on the street in front of the complex are the Luas lines.
Happily for No56 Collins Square, it's at the rear of its block and on the second floor, so its occupants can enjoy their proximity to the trams without having to look at them, or listen to them. Instead they look over an interior courtyard.
That view can be had from the main, open-plan living room and kitchen, where there's a sliding door to a balcony. There's one bedroom with built-in wardrobes, and the bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower. The floor area amounts to 452 sq ft in total and the energy rating is C3.
If the convenience of the Luas is not enough to tempt you away from car ownership, No56 does come with one designated parking space underground, and there's a lift down to it. The apartment complex as a whole is protected by electronic gates.
No56 Collins Square is for sale for €270,000 with Owen Reilly (01) 677 7100.
