Discount offers for affordable Dublin homes

First-time buyers may be in for a treat if they fulfil certain criteria under their local council's Affordable Homes Scheme.

Aimed at first-time buyers who want to buy a home but can't quite afford the prices on the open market, affordable homes are available at reduced prices, depending on your income and circumstances.

At Honeypark, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is selling some impressive one and two-bed apartments, which have been built on the former grounds of Dun Laoghaire Golf Club.

Located on the southern side of Glenageary Road Upper, and accessed off the roundabout at Kill Avenue and Mounttown Lower, Honeypark is an upmarket residential scheme built by Cosgraves.

Apartments are available at both reduced prices for those eligible under the Affordable Homes Scheme, and at open-market prices for all other buyers.

Prices start from just €136,000 for one-bed affordable units, and from €184,000 for two-beds. Prices on the open market are €170,000 and €230,000 respectively for the same units.

In the Dublin Docklands, Dublin City Council is also offering some great value in Affordable Homes in riverside developments both north and south of the River Liffey.

Again apartments here are available at reduced prices for those who qualify to purchase under the Affordable Homes Scheme.

Just off Grand Canal Square on Forbes Street and Lazer Lane there are a mix of one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments available.

Ideally located within a 10 minute walk of the city centre and close to the Grand Canal Theatre and Dublin Convention Centre, these apartments would suit young first-time buyers looking for a home in the city.

Nearby there are still some one-bed apartments in the very popular Spencer Dock, Longboat Quay, and The Waterfront developments.

These properties are available to purchase without restriction for first-time buyers/owner-occupiers with an income of less than €58,000 for a sole buyer or less than €75,000 for joint buyers.
