Design expertise to help homeless

Anyone considering buying a doer upper type home or improving their own home can pick the brains of an architect while also helping the homeless.

From today, the public can log on to to book a one-hour consultation with an RIAI architect in return for a €50 donation to the Simon Communities of Ireland. All architects give their time for free and money raised goes directly to the charity which aids the homeless.

The consultation is the central part of The Simon Open Door initiative, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 24 and 25 April.
