Commuters think out Louth
San Goretti €950k
Over 30 trains a day ply the route between McBride station in Drogheda and Dublin Connolly.
The journey takes about an hour and costs €11.79 one way, so as commutes to the capital go, this one is relatively painless.
If you need to park in the grounds of Drogheda station it will cost another €4 a day. You won't need to park, though, if you live at San Goretti, a big detached house on the Dublin Road, as it's only three minutes' walk from the station.
San Goretti stands on a corner site where the Bryanstown Village road meets the Dublin Road.
The site itself consists of almost two-thirds (0.6) of an acre of very pleasant gardens. There's a driveway and forecourt at the front, while out the back is a vast sunken lawn surrounded by mature trees, with a flight of grand steps leading up from there to a south-west-facing patio at the back of the house.
Inside, the house is 4,035 sq ft on two floors, with a curving open-string staircase between the two levels.
The ground floor has four reception rooms as well as a bow-ended kitchen and breakfast room measuring some 30ft by 23ft. The kitchen has a centre island with a breakfast bar and a red Aga, and there are French doors to the garden from the dining area.
There's a separate dining room as well, with a fireplace, along with a TV room and a sitting room with French doors.
The biggest reception room is a drawing room (26ft by 17ft) with another fireplace and more French doors.
There's one en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, and the other four bedrooms are upstairs, the main one having an en-suite and walk-in wardrobe.
San Goretti is for sale for €950,000 with Sherry FitzGerald Lannon (041) 983 8168.
