A bed of roses in Ballinasloe
The famous Ballinasloe Horse Fair dates back to the 18th Century. As it happens, so does Rose Cottage, a 300-year-old thatched house on the outskirts of the town.
Rose Cottage has been somewhat modernised. It now has double-glazed windows and oil-fired central heating, for instance – though it does still look like an archetypal thatched cottage.
The accommodation consists of a study, a lounge, and a kitchen/dining room, as well as three bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside is a mature, garden with shrubs, trees and flowers.
The cottage is situated at Creagh, less than 2km from the main street of Ballinasloe town, and about the same distance from the M6 Galway-Dublin motorway at Junction 14.
The cottage is for sale by private treaty through Michael Regan Auctioneering in Loughrea (091 423367) with an asking price of €175,000.
