20 properties to go under hammer in Galway 'bumper'

As many as 20 residential properties will go under the hammer at Galway's first bumper auction of the season on March 15. Prices range from €45,000 to €175,000 for the homes at O'Donnellan & Joyce's auction.

As well as houses and apartments in Galway city and county, they also include properties in Ballinasloe and Athlone.

The cheapest house is 16 Clifden Glen, Clifden, a three-bedroom detached home in the holiday home development of Clifden Glen where facilities include a clubhouse, tennis courts and mini golf. Its AMV is €45,000.

At the other end of the scale, the highest price is the €175,000 guided for 78A Hawthorn Place, Clybaun Road, west of Galway city. This four-bedroom semi has a large rear garden.

The next most valuable lot is a city centre semi, 70 Forster Court, College Road and just off Eyre Square. The auctioneers are guiding €170,000 for the home which has three large bedrooms.

Also in the city centre, a two-bedroom apartment at 18 Bridgewater Court, Dominick Street, has an AMV of €75,000.

Two houses in the eastern suburbs of Renmore are being offered with €150,000 guide prices on each of them – 225 Lurgan Park, Renmore, is a three-bedroom semi in walk-in condition. The second, at 16 Arbutus Avenue, is located in the more established part of Renmore and is within walking distance of Ballyloughan Beach. It has three large bedrooms.

On the northern side of the city a two-bedroom apartment at 101 Gort na Coiribe, Headford Road, has a €110,000 AMV.

A three-bedroom house at 26 An Logan, just off the Western Distributor Road, is two miles from Galway city centre. Within walking distance of the new Knocknacarra shopping centre, its AMV is €95,000.

Located in Shantalla, one of Galway's oldest and most established residential areas, 35 Ashe Road is within walking distance of NUIG and has a €100,000 AMV.

North of the city, a bungalow at Lisheenageesha, about two miles from Headford, is also in good condition. Its AMV is €80,000.

In the village of Claregalway, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, 125 River Oaks, has a €130,000 guide price.

In the village of Lackagh, a four-bedroom house, 12 Woodlands, is also in walk-in condition and its AMV is €145,000.

In Caltra, Ballinsaloe, a large four-bedroom detached house finished to a high standard is being sold on the instructions of receiver Kieran Connolly. Its AMV is €70,000.

Another receivership home is being sold at Abbeyknockmoy. This detached house has been built to a shell and core finish and has a €30,000 AMV.

To the east of the city in the town of Loughrea, a four- bedroom detached family home, located on the Dublin Road in the heart of Loughrea town, comes with a large rear garden. Its AMV is €130,000.

In Athlone, an investment property with an apartment and a retail unit at 19 River Village, Monksland, has a €70,000 AMV.
