Mount Temple is about 12km due east of Athlone and only about 4km from the M6 near Moate (Junction 7).

The village is known for its unusual Lombardo Romanesque church and for its 18-hole golf course, which surrounds the small, gated housing development known as Loch Luatha. No3 measures 3,000 sq ft with features including solar panels, a water softener and central vacuum system. It has two main reception rooms as well as a triple-aspect kitchen and a conservatory.

All the houses in the terrace that is Garden Vale are selected for honourable mention in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, which describes No8 as "a dignified late 19th century house" forming an "attractive pair" with its next-door neighbour. Built about 1890, it's at Ballymahon Road, near the town centre and the train station. It's on two storeys with a basement which is made over to offices and a reception room. Times being what they are, Athlone is being considered a commuter zone by house buyers forced out of the capital. The 1990s-built Highfield Court estate is next to the M6 motorway so it's about an hour's drive from the M50. You can also walk from there to the train station in about 15 minutes. West of the Shannon, on the Roscommon side, is the village of Curraghboy, which has a national school, church, a couple of shops and a pub. Athlone is about ten minutes' drive away. This dormer bungalow is among a group of standalone properties in the village, near the school and has a southwest-facing back garden with views over fields and trees. As a recent enough build it's B3-rated and has five bedrooms - three on the ground floor (one ensuite) and two at dormer level, both ensuite.
