Extended family home just around the corner from Bertie Ahern's pied-a-terre
21 Beresford Avenue, D9 €925k
Beresford Avenue is an unassuming housing estate built in the 1980s off Griffith Avenue in Drumcondra, Dublin 9, but it would later acquire more than its share of attention by featuring in the Mahon tribunal.
While exploring former taoiseach Bertie Ahern's byzantine financial arrangements, the tribunal was told that, in 1994, Ahern moved into his friend Michael Wall's house at 44 Beresford Avenue, as a tenant.
Three years later he claimed to have bought it, albeit the transaction was one that could not be quite explained away to the tribunal.
No21 Beresford Avenue is just around the corner from Bertie's pied-a-terre - easily close enough to pop round and borrow a cup of sugar or an envelope.
And like No44, No21 has also had quite a bit of money spent on it, having gained a sizeable single-storey and two-storey extension at the back during the 2000s.
That extension has boosted the floor area to 1,615 sq ft and supplied the house with an impressive kitchen and dining room at the back, measuring some 24ft by 19ft.
This room is dual-aspect with three skylights and two sets of French doors - one to the back garden and one to the side. The kitchen is fitted with beech cabinets with granite countertops.
Double doors in the dining area lead through to an oak-floored lounge, which in turns opens into a front living room where there's a gas-fitted fireplace.
The first floor has four bedrooms, all with built-in wardrobes and two with en suite showers. There's also a small skylit study on this floor and the family bathroom.
The back garden is about 40ft long and has a raised patio, hedging and a lawn and flowerbeds. The front garden is paved for parking.
No21 is for sale for €925,000 with DNG Fairview (01) 833 1802.
