If you’ve got bed bugs, here’s how to get rid of them.

Simon Murphy from pest control service Principal Environmental told The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk how to get rid of bed bugs if you think you have them in your home.

First he advises to hoover the room: “Carefully hoover room to remove eggs and live insects.”

He then says to treat the hoover in the room, so you’re not spreading the infestation to the rest of the house.

Next carry out an insecticide treatment in the room.

If the bed bugs persist, contact a professional.

Simon says that bed bugs like all types of beds and mattresses, so don’t rule the problem out if you just bought a new one.

Bed bugs are visible to the human eye and are light brown in colour and look like very small crabs, he says. They also have a very distinct smell.

As the saying goes, sleep tight – don’t let the bedbugs bite!
