Early Christmas for would-be owners
Ashfield, Ridgewood, Swords, Co Dublin
Ridgewood, a residential estate on the Dublin Airport side of Swords, is a family affair in myriad ways. The children who moved to Ridgewood in the late 1990s after their parents bought a home in the then-new development are now buying a property of their own in a new section of the site called Ashfield, attracted by the established development's family amenities, such as seven playing pitches, playgrounds and open spaces.
MKN Property Group, itself a family-owned company based in Clontarf, started building Ridgewood before the turn of the millennium and a slew of phases ensued, including The Cedars, The Oaks and The Elms. Construction paused during the property crash but, last year, the 173-unit Ashfield was launched at the Forest Road site.
A second phase of Ashfield, consisting of 34 three and four-bed houses, was released in May. In the middle of last month, an extension of the second phase - made up of 19 houses - came on stream, with a new three-bed showhouse to market the release. Most were quietly sold to interested buyers on the selling agent's enquiry list, but there are still six houses from that batch for sale. Four of them are three-bed semi-detached homes selling for €370,000 each, one is a four-bed semi-detached house priced from €430,000, and one is a four-bed detached property costing from €450,000. Sizes range from 1,255 sq ft for a three-bed to 1,410 sq ft for a four-bed.
Completions on the 19 homes are due between the end of this month and the end of November, so would-be buyers could be in their new house by Christmas. A further release of 55 three and four-beds is due in the spring of 2018.
The price of the traditional-style homes includes floor and wall tiling, a kitchen and fitted wardrobes as standard, while the kitchen appliances are thrown in if contracts are exchanged early.
Each house has a cobble-lock driveway outside with parking for two cars, a side entrance and private rear garden. Commuters can access the nearby M1 and M50, or use the 41C, 102 and Swords Express bus routes.
Viewings at Ashfield will take place tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm. Enquiries to: Morton & Flanagan (01) 8404011.
