Query: I have a dilemma with my solid pine waxed kitchen units. My husband and I want to paint them either a cream or white but we were told by a painter that this wouldn't be possible. Do you think there's any possibility of getting a sealant that we apply to the surface prior to painting? Or any particular paint that would be suitable? Awaiting your reply with our fingers and toes crossed!

Answer: A The good news is that you're not stuck with your waxed pine - it can be painted. There are essentially two courses of action you can take - strip off the wax and then paint, or paint directly on to the wood as it is.
