Mindful moment… You're perfect just as you are

Everything in nature accepts what it is.
Everything in nature accepts what it is.

I'm pretty sure that the human race are the only living creatures who constantly want to be different to how they are.

We want to be skinnier, cleverer, taller, richer, more successful… We want to be more like that person on the telly, or more like our friends. We beat ourselves up for all our perceived flaws.

Those of us who are single think that we'll never find a perfect match - that no one will want us - unless we fix or hide these flaws.

But can you picture a tree wishing that it was anything but a tree? Or a bird wishing that it could go for a run as well as fly? Can you imagine a sunset reading an article about 25 ways to be brighter? Or a wave reading books on how to sit still? It's a crazy idea, right?

Everything else in nature accepts exactly what it is. Yes, they are subject to growth and change but they never want to be anything other than what they are.

Maybe us humans should try the same approach. We are perfect just as we are. Even in our imperfections we are perfect.

And some other imperfect person will think you're perfect just as you are.
