Mindful moment… Sheep or unique?
Many of us have spent good chunks of time trying to fit in - whether that's at work, at school, or with your gang of friends. We wear the same style of clothes, hang out in the same places and convince ourselves that we like the same type of music (even if we're secretly listening to Abba at home!).
But what if not fitting in - and embracing all your crazy quirks - could actually be the best thing you ever do?
I recently watched a TED talk on just that subject. The talk was given by a woman called Marianne Cantwell and she introduced me to a new word: LIMINALITY - which describes the very human tendency to hover between different worlds.
So the accountant who loves stand-up comedy, the truck driver who collects art… Society tells us we should fit into one box - but actually, we were never designed to be that way.
We are meant to be full of contradictions and variety. And often the bit of us that we are the most embarrassed about is the bit that becomes our gold if we let it.
