Mindful moment… Set fire to your grudges

This year, I did not make any new year's resolutions.

I did not sit down at the beginning of this month and make declarations about giving up sugar or alcohol that were unrealistic for me. Neither did I join a gym.

However, there is one thing that I did do to make sure that I started 2018 on a fresh page and from a positive place - and that is a forgiveness exercise.

To do this, I sat down and composed a list of all the grudges that I'm holding on to, all the jealousies and all the resentments that have been festering for years.

And then, on a second page, I wrote a detailed list of all the ways I've done other people wrong - because as much as I wish it were otherwise, I know that I have hurt others as much as they have hurt me, even if I haven't meant to.

Then, I burned both lists and let go; let go of the past, let go of blaming and started anew. I know this will be more life-changing than giving up sugar or joining the gym this year.
