'I'm not a big fan of the gym, I cycle whenever possible'
Louise Allen has found old reliables such as cycling and walking her dog the most enjoyable forms of exercise.
Do you consider yourself to have a healthy lifestyle?
In general, yes, I'm out in the open air as much as possible with my dog of 14 years. I love cooking and am relatively conscious of what I eat. A good friend of mine is doing a nutrition course, I've just had to complete a template of a week's worth of what I eat. I imagine her analysis will throw up some interesting observations!
Do you exercise regularly? If so, what do you do?
I cycle whenever and wherever possible and I love nothing more than long walks with my dog. I had a good routine of running until recently. I'm not a big fan of gyms and jet lag is a killer when trying to keep on track, so right now I'm considering getting some advice on a programme that will work at home and abroad!
Do you do it willingly or begrudgingly?
Cycling and walking willingly, running and core training often begrudgingly. It all depends on the day, state of mind and energy levels.
What time do you go to bed?
Usually 10pm, otherwise I'm asleep on the sofa by 10.30pm!
What time do you get up in the morning?
On a regular day, 7am, generally straight out with the dog for a 40-minute walk and then cycle to work.
What do you have for breakfast?
Weekdays a bowl of porridge with blueberries, banana, linseed, almond milk and honey. Weekend breakfast is a longer affair which usually starts with a mix of fruit with yoghurt and seeds followed by some bacon or an egg with toast and coffee.
In winter it's soup season. I generally cook up a pot. If I'm out of soup, I head for one of the many great places around town, Cornucopia is my favourite. If I'm abroad it could be anything! In China recently, lunch included duck's tongue and black fungus turtle soup and was served from 11.30am-1pm!
Dinner is homemade 90pc of the time. Last night was a simple tomato-based pasta sauce with chorizo. Tonight, there's a boiled ham that's ready for roasting along with some kale in sesame seeds and chilli and some sweet potato.
When I'm good, a mandarin or apple at 11am. When I'm bad, some chocolate or biscuits.
Do you take any supplements?
At the moment an all-in-one multivitamin that looks like a horse tranquiliser.
How much water do you drink?
Not nearly enough! About one litre a day.
Do you have a skincare routine?
No, not really. I rarely wear make-up so skincare is a relatively simple affair - wash, cleanse and moisturise in the mornings and evenings.
None I'm aware of. I grew out of them all!
Wine, red or white is my biggest but pleasurable vice.
If I could change one thing about my lifestyle it would be...
Probably less wine and a regular exercise routine.
