'I'm a total night owl, I come alive at night'
Singer Luan Parle tells Edel Coffey how her pet cockapoo keeps her exercise in check, and how a snack bar curbs her sugar cravings.
Do you consider yourself to have a healthy lifestyle?
I try to be as healthy as possible. It can be difficult sometimes when I'm in the studio for months working into the early hours or travelling on the road.
Do you exercise regularly? If so, what do you do?
I love walking, I walk almost everyday. I have a very lively cockapoo which is a great incentive to get out into the outdoors. I'm also a regular gym-goer. I try to incorporate three classes a week into my regime which include circuit training/boot camp, spinning, step aerobics and tummy, hip & thigh classes.
Do you do it willingly or begrudgingly?
Willingly, I feel much better when I feel fit. Of course there are times when I'm tired and it's the last thing I want to do but I give myself a little push & always feel the better for it afterwards.
What time do you go to bed?
I'm a total night owl, I come alive at night time so not as early as I would like. I always find it's easier to write at night when everything is silent and there are no distractions.
What time do you get up in the morning?
I'm an early riser. I never usually lie on as I feel it's such a waste of a day. I'm normally up and about 7am.
What do you have for breakfast?
I normally start my day with a bowl of porridge made with low-fat milk and water. I have it with a tablespoon of honey. I used to use manuka honey but a chef told me local honey is better for you so that's what I use now.
For lunch I would normally have a brown bread sandwich. I try to pile on as much salad as possible.
Chicken or beef stir fry would be one of my faves. I love pasta dishes, currys and experimenting with new recipes.
Fruit, nuts, branflakes and for a treat I normally have a yellow Cadbury snack bar.
Do you take any supplements?
I take a multivitamin, fish oil, garlic tablet & vitamin C every morning.
How much water do you drink?
I always struggle with this one but I do try my best. When I'm working I leave a two-litre bottle of water beside me and drink it throughout the day.
Do you have a skincare routine?
I use a facial scrub once a week and cleanse/tone everyday. I find the Lidl Cien day and night creams with q10 fantastic.
None that I know of yet
Diet coke, I love the stuff.
If I could change one thing about my lifestyle it would be …
I'd try and go to bed earlier.
