When former junior Leinster rugby player Pat Slater cut his teeth on the contact sport, he did not anticipate how a knee injury in his early 30s would seal his fate. “I never had a problem with the knee,” he says. “I never had a problem with any joints until I got injured in a rugby match down in Kilkenny.”
