WHERE do you think your company would place in a competition to find Ireland's fittest - both mentally and physically?

A new initiative - Ireland's Fittest Company - is a workplace wellness challenge which has been developed by FitLive.ie in partnership with health and wellbeing experts Roz Purcell, Karl Henry and Gerry Hussey.

It includes a series of workplace seminars raising awareness of the importance of nutrition, fitness and mental resilience within a working environment. The programme continues after the seminars with employees encouraged to introduce healthy practices into their daily routine.

The challenge ends this year in a unique corporate 5k run to be held in the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown on October 5th, 2017. Unlike other 5k runs, this run caters for people of all abilities and fitness levels.

Each company team consists of five team members and each member is challenged to run a different distance. One team member runs 5km, joined at the 4km by a second team member, by another at the 3km mark, by a fourth at the 2km mark and by the final team member at the 1km mark. All team members must cross the finish line together.

Prizes are awarded in each of four categories - all-male, all-female, mixed gender and mixed ability. It promises to be a fun team night out for companies with music, a barbecue and refreshments offered after the race finishes.

FitLive.ie has teamed up with Eversheds Sutherland as sponsors of the event and with Barretstown children’s charity. Speaking at the launch of sponsorship, Andrew Wade of FitLive.ie said: “We are delighted to have Eversheds Sutherland on board to support this initiative and we very much appreciate their support in creating healthier workplaces. We are also thrilled to be joined by Barretstown as our charity partner and encourage all participants to support this very worthy cause.”

Team tickets appear to be selling fast with one company having already entered 15 teams according to Wade. Further information and team booking can be completed here.
